Honest, not polished into nonsense.
We do not erase frustration, grief, anger, inconvenience, expense, or uncertainty just to make a story feel uplifting.
Weekly Editorial Newspaper
TheFor amputees who refuse to give up on life.
The Lunatic Ledger is an independent weekly publication for amputees, people facing limb loss, families, caregivers, and allies. We publish honest stories, practical help, hard truths, useful reporting, and dark humor from the limb-loss community.
Useful first. Honest always.
The Lunatic Ledger covers the parts of limb-loss life that often get overlooked: rebuilding independence, navigating prosthetic care, dealing with insurance, returning to work, traveling, adapting a home or vehicle, finding useful products and resources, confronting accessibility failures, and occasionally laughing at situations so absurd that you really could not make them up.
We are not here to pretend every day is inspirational. Limb loss can involve grief, frustration, expense, bureaucracy, pain, setbacks, adaptation, unexpected victories, dark jokes, and long stretches of ordinary life. All of it belongs in the conversation.
Our job is to help readers feel seen, give them information they can actually use, explain what matters behind the headlines, and make room for a voice that is direct, skeptical when necessary, hopeful without being sentimental, and human from beginning to end.
Direct · Defiant · Useful · Human
We do not erase frustration, grief, anger, inconvenience, expense, or uncertainty just to make a story feel uplifting.
Progress matters. So do setbacks. Readers do not need cheerleading; they need useful perspective and room to be human.
The target is the absurdity, the bureaucracy, the broken system, the ridiculous situation, or occasionally ourselves — never a vulnerable person.
New technology, products, services, clinical claims, and policies are judged by evidence, access, cost, limitations, and real-world usefulness.
